In this hour we will run Earth Science practical, hands on activities and mini lessons to correspond with the Geography theory course preceding. Open to all ages and abilities.

For years 9-11 Fallacy is an error in logic – a place where someone has made a mistake in their thinking. ‘A cloud is 90% water. A melon is 90% water. Therefore, since a plane can fly through a cloud, a plane can fly through a watermelon’. This is an introductory class for learning to spot common errors in reasoning. They have a debate on the topic of the day to question how words can be twisted and mistaken for something else by our thoughts and presumptions. They will learn not to take everything at face value and be able to look/listen and go deeper and see beyond words.

It is largely because of its approach to how and when students are taught. Regardless of their learning style, young people learn in three phases or stages (grammar, logic or dialectic, and rhetoric), known as the trivium. Young people will be told when they are ready to study for IGCSE Maths.

Improve your logical and critical thinking skills and learn to identify common obstacles to effective thinking.  Ages 13+

This is a 12-week course run by Stuart Mackenzie, who is a former leader of Lyric Hammersmith’s Acting Up and Comedy Club. He has extensive experience of directing and teaching and we are privileged to have him working with us. During the course the young people will: learn how to devise, script and co-produce short films scout locations design costumes The course will culminate in the young people producing their own films and these will be screened in the summer showcase.

Science Museum. We will also look to explore an exhibition with worksheets on this visit. Please give your YP a packed lunch. No nuts.

Corinne will be looking to cover the following over the next 6 weeks: Animation & Anime Drawing - YP will create a short video by discussing these, characters as a mood board. Draw human figures in different ways using people, costumes to create the theme. Using a mixture of mediums. They will create a scene together then move onto drawing and marking. Environmental Artwork- Creating art using recycled material. Clay bowls/pot - Based around the world, looking at traditional prints and patterns. Junk Modeling sculptures - themes may include buildings/animals/portraits. These are subject to change.
