245 Hammersmith Road 245 Hammersmith Road, londonFor years 9-11 Fallacy is an error in logic – a place where someone has made a mistake in their thinking. ‘A cloud is 90% water. A melon is 90% water. Therefore, since a plane can fly through a cloud, a plane can fly through a watermelon’. This is an introductory class for learning to spot common errors in reasoning. They have a debate on the topic of the day to question how words can be twisted and mistaken for something else by our thoughts and presumptions. They will learn not to take everything at face value and be able to look/listen and go deeper and see beyond words.

For example word/excel/powerpoint....... we will also use this time to log in with young people to interact with First News Online and also have the hard copy available to read. If you have a computer skill like the ones mentioned above or other and have time to come in and show our YP please get in touch. First News login is a very engaging way for young people to learn what is happening in our world. They can also get competitive and earn points and enter competitions. They have access to multiply questions to answer on a topic they read about. YP will need a laptop or Ipad for this session. We do have a few screens available to use. Acting, Editing & Filming
245 Hammersmith Road 245 Hammersmith Road, londonThis is a 12-week course run by Stuart Mackenzie, who is a former leader of Lyric Hammersmith’s Acting Up and Comedy Club. He has extensive experience of directing and teaching and we are privileged to have him working with us. During the course the young people will: learn how to devise, script and co-produce short films scout locations design costumes The course will culminate in the young people producing their own films and these will be screened in the summer showcase.

This session is run by Romario who has a vast experience with young people in his field. For parents and young people. Full Moon is on 18th March. It is a very powerful time to come within ourselves and nurture ourselves as the light beings we are and stop rushing around for everyone else. Ashtanga is a very dynamic and athletic form of hatha yoga, made up of six series or levels, with a fixed order of postures. It is rooted in vinyasa, the flowing movements between positions, with a focus on energy and breath. While it is a very physical practice, it also promotes mental clarity and inner peace.

Introduce young people to the impacts of climate change Enable young people to see the links between topics they are passionate about and climate/ecology Listen to young people’s priorities on what the council should do Set young people a brief for a future session where they can feedback learning and recommendations to the council Agenda: Introduction to climate change and local impacts Breakout groups: how climate change relates to…. Tackling poverty / job opportunities / making space for nature / health and wellbeing Discussion and feedback Set brief for session 2 Brief: You’ll visit lots of great community organisations and projects that are taking action on climate change (Nourish Hub / repair / imagine2030 / community gardens / waste / bikes?) We want to know... Your vision for 2030 and how getting there will also tackle climate change e.g. you can do a presentation, poster, short film... we want to hear your creative ideas about what you want Hammersmith to be like in 2030 and how this relates to climate change. Tell us what you think the council should do to help get there. We will mingle in our Language Cafe as we have lunch
